This depends on several factors including the installation environment and the usage but on average, sump pumps will need to be replaced about every 10 years.

• A battery backup is not necessary, however, it is highly recommended to have one, especially if you have or plan to finish your basement.
• A sump pump battery backup provides a backup source of power in the event your sump pump fails. This failure could be due to a power outage, mechanical failure, or simply because the pump is at the end of its life. What triggers a sump pump?
